Enabling AI is your choice
The AI assistant uses OpenAI through Oblak's Supabase service. AI is off by default and requires a separate, versioned choice for your account on each device. Enabling it permits the processing described here; a subscription purchase or camera permission does not enable AI. Withdrawing permission can stop new AI processing for the whole account once the server confirms it. Other devices cannot bypass that withdrawal with an old local choice.
What is sent
Existing and future memory titles and notes are sent to OpenAI to create meaning-based search representations, including after loading or syncing memories while the app is active. When you chat, recent messages, matching memory text, dates, places, people-tag names and identifiers, selected mentions and your time zone can also be sent. Unsynced text edits may be included. The current AI integration does not send photo files, Apple credentials or your account email as dedicated fields; anything you put in a note or message can still be sent.
What is retained
AI indexes are stored with your journal. We request responses with Responses API storage disabled. This does not disable provider abuse-monitoring logs: OpenAI normally retains these for up to 30 days, with possible longer legal or safety exceptions. This is not a promise of zero retention.
Turning AI off
Open AI & your data from journal settings or Account & help, including without a subscription. Turning AI off stops new requests on this device immediately and asks the server to revoke permission for the account. Wait for confirmation; if the server request fails, the app shows an error and you must retry for other devices to be covered. A request already received by a provider may finish. Withdrawal does not erase existing AI indexes or provider logs; request erasure or delete the related memory or account to remove service-controlled data.
Your memory is the primary source
The assistant in Oblak uses AI to generate answers. Its answers can be inaccurate or incomplete and should be checked against your original memories. It is not a professional medical, legal or financial adviser. AI is optional and has separate data-sharing controls.
AI can make mistakes or miss a memory. Use your original journal entries to verify an answer.
